A small in-house team, one studio, and a simple rule: measure first, never hide defects, and tell owners the truth.
Our story
Adrian Velasco spent a decade polishing cars in dealership prep bays, where speed always won over finish. Obsidian started in 2015 as the opposite: one bay, one car at a time, and as long as the paint needed.
Word spread through collectors in Beverly Hills and Pasadena, then through the Cars and Coffee crowd. By 2019 we had outgrown the first bay and moved into a former print works on East 7th Place, which we rebuilt around lighting, airflow and security.
Today a team of nine technicians looks after everything from family SUVs to concours entrants. We still work on a small number of cars each week, and every one is signed off under the lights by a second technician before it goes home.

What we will not compromise on
Measure before we cut
Paint depth readings on every panel, logged in your vehicle file. We remove only what is needed and we tell you what cannot be fixed.
No fillers, no shortcuts
We never hide swirls under glaze or oils. The finish you see after our panel wipe is the finish you keep.
Light tells the truth
Our bays are lit at three color temperatures so defects have nowhere to hide, before or after.

Our Arts District, Los Angeles studio was built for one job: seeing paint honestly. Sealed, filtered bays hold temperature and humidity for coatings, and every wall carries inspection lighting at three color temperatures so nothing hides until the panel wipe.
